EMERGENCY gasworks in Weymouth are set to be finished by early next week.
Residents on Dorchester Road are set to have access at the Manor Roundabout restored with work coming to an end.
SGN has been carrying out emergency gasworks for more than a month now, since January 19, on Dorchester Road at the Manor Roundabout.
The works have seen local buses unable to access the road and left some residents cut-off from some services.
Many have complained of a strong smell of gas.
This week though, SGN has started connections and has said “all being well” work will be completed by early next week.
The road currently remains closed in both directions for the upgrade work and SGN hopes this week to be able to use the new pipe that has been laid.
This will allow them to decommission the old gas main which has been replaced.
Following the completion of all the engineering work, there will be resurfacing to complete and site clearance before the road is fully re-opened.
It was originally estimated that the road would be closed until February 9 but the closure was extended to the end of February.
