A MOTHER and her eight-week-old son were twice near victims of air gun yobs.

Sandra Dogan and Down's Syndrome sufferer Alfie were at the scene of two shootings in Wyke Regis.

Mrs Dogan said she and her son were visiting her sister in Walker Crescent when a seagull was shot and fell near Alfie as he played.

Then in another incident Mrs Dogan was taking her son from Portland to Weymouth on a First bus when shots from an air weapon broke two nearby windows. The concerned mum says something needs to be done about the hooligans behind the attacks.

Mrs Dogan, 40, of The Esplanade in Weymouth said: "The first shooting happened after Alfie and I had just got out of hospital.

"We had been in for some weeks because he had been having difficulty breathing.

"I was in the back garden of my sister's house with Alfie on a blanket when I heard this snapping sound.

"I saw a seagull on the roof of the house start flailing around and then fell to the patio.

"It must have been very disoriented after it landed because it started trying to get into Alfie's pram. I think it had been hit in the leg not the wing."

She added: "The second time I had got on the No1 bus at Langton Avenue with Alfie in his pram. Because of Alfie's condition I was leaning down and trying to level his head up when I heard this crashing sound and I saw a window near me shatter.

"Luckily I had my hand covering his face at the time. I found afterwards that two windows had actually been broken - there was a hole the size of an orange in another window.

"With every turn of the bus after that bits of shattered glass were falling inside and Alfie and I had to move.

"Nobody on the bus seemed to care. Something has to be done about these hooligans."

Both shootings happened within a mile of each other and were reported to Dorset Police.

A police spokesman said anyone with information about the shootings should call 01305 222222.
