BOURNEMOUTH Symphony Orchestra and Inspiration Choir Southampton will perform a show-stopping concert of the best-loved music from the stage and screen at Southampton’s O2 Guildhall this weekend.

Modern film scores and new musical theatre hits will feature alongside classics that have stood the test of time as the choir returns to the music that is closest to its heart on Saturday night.

Inspiration Southampton’s Music Director, West End conductor Pete Harrison, will lead the choir through popular numbers including Flashdance – What A Feeling, medleys from the classic musicals Oklahoma, Show Boat and My Fair Lady, as well as Disney favourites Beauty and the Beast and Moana.

Inspiration Choir Southampton is the newest addition to the vibrant family of Inspiration large-scale community choirs with the simple ethos that anyone can sing. Since its launch in the city in 2005, thanks to the determination of BSO CEO Dougie Scarfe and the generous support of BSO Patrons David and Jill Peters, the choir now has some 150 members and five successful concerts to its name.

The Southampton choir performs three times a year with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Pete Harrison is a regular guest conductor with the BSO as well as extensively working in London’s West End, having conducted high profile shows such as Lautrec and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

This Stage and Screen spectacular concert is the culmination of hours of dedicated practice by Inspiration Southampton’s members.

The programme features something for everyone to enjoy, ranging from songs from the high-flying acrobatics of the Tony Award winning musical Pippin, to the comedy of Sister Act, and John Williams’ deeply moving Dry Your Tears Afrika from the soundtrack to Steven Spielberg’s epic historical saga, Amistad.
