PUPILS from St Mary's Middle School in Puddletown were part of the 5,000-strong crowd at the St Alban's pilgrimage.
Their day began with worship in the town's cathedral, which was led by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and broadcast to those outside.
The group of 10 from after-school club The Friday Chill Zone went as guests of the Dean of St Alban's Cathedral to take their places in the annual procession.
Jenny Monds, of the Dorchester Deanery Committee, said: "They dressed as Roman soldiers, monks and pilgrims and were led by Archbishop Tutu. Notting Hill carnival designers also provided 20 foot-tall figures used in the parade.
"The Chill Zone Team also came first in three of the afternoon chariot races and brought home a stash of trophies and medals."
Taking part in the pilgrimage were Hattie Crankshaw, Nicola and Ben Stanzl, Tamsin Knott, Bessa Godfrey, Sarah Treviss, Bethanee Witt, Rob and Abi Butler and Chelsea Perrins.
