A racing yacht broke down in thick fog this morning.
Weymouth RNLI was launched at 7.05am this morning to reports that the yacht had broken down near the the Channel shipping lanes.
Under relief Coxswain Danny Blake the volunteer lifeboat crew were tasked by the Coastguard with assisting the 50ft (11m) yacht Emma Claire which was becalmed in thick fog with engine failure 16 miles South of Portland Bill.
Once on scene it was soon established that the six man crew of the racing yacht were all well and uninjured. A line was passed and the yacht was towed back to Weymouth Harbour arriving at 11.45am.
She was moored up close to the Pavilion.
