What better way to spend your weekend than drinking a traditional cup of tea?

It was another successful year of The Great Blooming Tea Party, organised by the Dorchester and District Fundraising Group for Marie Curie.

Richard Crosby, the chairman of Dorchester and District Fundraising Group was very pleased with the turnout for the event at Minterne House.

He said: “It was a delightful venue, which had kindly been offered to the Marie Curie group by the Hon. Henry Digby.”

As part of the Tea Party, Paul Atterbury of the Antiques Roadshow fame, ably assisted by Tim Medhurst of Dukes Auctioneers, valued collectibles that had been brought along.

There was also a selection of many old and vintage cars, along with some fairly modern classics.

The popular tea and cake tent was bustling throughout the afternoon and Jan Griffiths of Martinstown WI, along with her army of helpers, was able to cope with the steady demand.

Richard added that without the help of so many people, including family, and the Dorchester group, it would have been difficult to put on the event, which had made a profit of just over £2,000.

He said that this amount would provide 100 hours of Marie Curie nursing in Dorset.

Additional helpers for collecting, and volunteering to help the local fundraising group in any way. At present, the particular need is for a secretary for the group.
