Dorset County Museum and the Dorset Echo have teamed up to offer up to 36 children the chance to make their own animated film.

During August, three local museums, Dorset County Museum, Weymouth Museum and Portland Museum are running a series of events designed for children and families. Bridport Museum is also getting involved and will be running a separate competition.

Four weeks of exciting activities kick off at Weymouth Museum from 6 - 10 August, move to Dorset County Museum in Dorchester from 13 - 17 August, and to Portland Museum from 20 - 24 August. A final week of events at Bridport Museum runs from 27 - 31 August.

The animation workshops will offer children between the age of 10 and 13 the chance to make their own stop-motion animated film using their own storyline, props, models and a set.

The theme for the films will be the different ways in which people use the Jurassic Coast. Finished films will be available to view on the Dorset Echo website the week after the event.

Other activities taking place during Jurassic Fantastic include making a large-scale 3-D landscape, drama sessions, a story telling and music activity, and a chance to explore each of the museums.

Further details of the activities happening on each day will be available nearer the time - just contact your local museum for further information.

For your chance to win a place on this amazing animation course, make sure you get your copy of the Dorset Echo on Tuesday 17 July.
