A man dedicated to fundraising for children’s charities is set to give a local hospice a huge boost – and he’s being helped by celebrities.

Adam Dicker, from The Video of All Video Events, has launched a silent online auction to raise money for Julia’s House children’s hospice which supports families caring for a child with a life-limiting condition.

He has been working on putting together the auction from his home in Dorchester since March, and now a host of big names in sports and television have donated prizes to the cause.

Top items include a signed book from Harry Redknapp and signed T-shirt from Ben Ainslie, alongside others such as a signed autobiography from Dame Kelly Holmes and vouchers for a cider orchard tour.

Adam said: “I have been lucky to fundraise for many other children’s charities such as our own Kingfisher Ward in Dorchester, Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Julia’s House is a much-loved local charity and one I had wanted to fundraise for since it came to my attention back in 2015.

“I set about making a ‘super list’ with national companies, local businesses, sporting and television personalities.

“I must have sent hundreds of emails and it’s fair to say that you do get a lot of knock-backs.

“It can be really exciting checking your inbox and seeing if you’ve been lucky enough to have a donation put in the post.

Adam said he has dedicated his evenings and days off to organising the event.

He said: “I am going to run a small PS4 gaming tournament with friends in the next few weeks, a small pub quiz, a local cinema has offered me a free screen towards Christmas time to run a film with all ticket fees going to the charity, and hopefully a live magic stage show in Dorchester in November.

“One more thing on the horizon is an extremely special prize that has been donated to me by a well known British television star. We are working together to reveal it next year,” he said.

Lucky winners in the immediate Dorchester area will have their item delivered by Adam free of charge, and a small postage fee may be necessary for those further afield.
