A charity group raised £1,020 for good causes after busking in Weymouth’s town centre.
The Weymouth and Portland Lions Club held its annual busk on Saturday (September 2) and treated residents and visitors to an ensemble of performances.
Replay, a popular band from Weymouth, entertained crowds with covers of 50s and 60s music, and they were supported by acts including Ken Watkins, Blazing Strings, Wyke Ukedelics, Brian Lincoln and 12-year-old singer and dancer Maisie Sheridan.
The club’s mascot Lesley the Lion was on hand to collect money, and lions’ members thanked everybody who took part and donated.
A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Lions Club said: “All of the money raised will go to our charity fund which is dispensed to deserving causes and people who are less fortunate than ourselves.
“We were pleased to do it, it is a great event and we always get a terrific response from the public. It is one of the main events we stage in the town throughout the year.”
Upcoming Lion’s event are the beach motocross on Sunday, October 22 and the Senior Citizens Christmas Show at the Weymouth Pavilion, which is followed by the Christmas Day harbour swim. This year the group hopes more than 300 swimmers will take part.
