THE Dua Lipa gig at the O2 in Boscombe has been the hot ticket in town ever since it sold out weeks in advance of the show.

No surprise then that the venue was packed well in advance of the stage time, as no one wanted to miss a second.

And what a great show it was, for someone relatively new to the music scene, Dua Lipa certainly looked completely at ease on stage, and with a voice like that and the songs to match why wouldn’t you be.

Taking to the stage in a flowing powder blue outfit she launched straight into Hotter Than Hell followed by Dreams and Lost In Your Light before stopping for a quick ‘hello Bournemouth’ and it was straight on with Garden and Last Dance all from her self titled first studio album.

The set list comprised pretty much the whole of that recently released disc and it was obvious that almost everyone in the crowd had a copy.

Blow Your Mind followed by the slower paced Thinking Bout You received the biggest reaction from the crowd so far with Scared To Be Lonely also getting the crowd singing along and bouncing to the chorus.

The main set ended with Begging and the crowd obliged calling for more.

The encore started with the mellow tones of Dua accompanied by a solo piano performing Homesick, the perfect song to showcase that perfect pop voice.

Then it was the two big hitters that are Be The One that has had festival crowds singing along all summer and achieved the same tonight and literal show-stopping number 1 single New Rules.

Dua Lipa has achieved so much in a short space of time but has all of the qualities that should see her continue to rise.

If the second album contains tunes of the quality of Be The One then there should be no stopping her.

The rate of ticket sales prove that she could already be playing much bigger venues and I am sure that will be the case next time but for now I am just glad I got to see her at the O2 which is the perfect venue for the perfect pop act.
