WE interviewed a young student from Royal Manor Arts College, Daniel Fry.
We asked him if this activity inspired him.
His answer was yes because he had done welding before with his dad just doing odd little jobs. He wants to use these skills in his later career as re-enactment and welding swords and other little bits together.
They are planning to make flowers by the end of today. When we went in to the welding room the students were practising welding triangles together before they attempt to make a flower.
Gordon Mott has been working here for approximately six years now and he enjoys it very much. They are welding tulip paperweights. This is how they are made; firstly you would drill a hole in the base, cut out two leaf shapes, cut out a tulip shape then weld them to a stem then spray them in paint.
Students are lucky to have this experience.
