A man charged with attempted murder appeared before the courts.
Steven John Best, 48 and from Portland, appeared before Salisbury Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.
The charge relates to an incident in which a woman was taken to hospital after suffering stab wounds to her head and body at a house in East Weare Road, Portland.
Dorset Police were called to reports of a disturbance at the property shortly after 4.30pm on Sunday, September 10.
The woman's condition was not life-threatening.
A 48-year-old local man who suffered a head injury following a fall during the incident was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation, Best was charged by Dorset Police yesterday morning.
Best was remanded in custody and will next appear before Winchester Crown Court on Friday, December 1.
