SHAFTESBURY TOWN RES 5

BALTI Sports were hit for five in the Dorset Premier League after their lack of matches took its toll.

The Weymouth college team have only played two times since the end of September and manager Marco Nott admitted that it was a poor performance.

Manager Marco Nott said: “To say we were rusty is probably a bit of an understatement really.”

“They played quite direct and we didn’t deal with any of the balls in the box and that cost us for three of the goals really.”

An early shot from Ricky Lane came back off the bar when the scores were level but that was as good as it got for Balti.

A free kick put the ball in the box to allow Jason Beale a free header to get the first goal for the Rockies.

It was disappointing for Balti as Nott felt they had started quite brightly and thought the away side’s goal was against the run of play.

Nott said: “We just never got going really, after that first goal it just got worse and worse and worse.”

They conceded twice more from efforts before half time from Nick Hewlett and another header from a set piece by Andrew Baker.

Sports felt they could potentially rescue a draw if they got an early goal in the second half but they conceded again five minutes in as Baker got his second for the Rockies.

The score line was widened once more later on as Lee Gale scored when one on one.

Balti improved after the 75th minute and started putting pressure upon the goal but by that time the match and any hope of a result was out of sight.

The manager felt they were uncharacteristically sloppy in possession, saying: "We're pretty good in possession normally.

"We just could not get anything going after the first goal. It really, really killed us."

The result leaves Balti Sports in second on 26 points but they have now conceded 11 goals in their past two matches, while the Rockies now sit more secure in tenth.

Balti next face eighth placed Westland Sports away on Saturday.
