A glossy event is set to raise money for a charity which provides special days out for terminally ill children and their families.

A charity black tie ball will be held at Weymouth Pavilion this month in aid of the Lexi May Trust, supporting children in Dorset with terminal illness or life limiting conditions.

The trust was set up in September last year by Carly Hopkin and husband Michael in memory of their daughter Lexi who passed away, aged eight, a year after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour known as DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma).

Now, family friend Claire Roper is keen to support the charity by offering people a chance to party in style.
Claire said: “To support the trust and now help other children I decided to hold a charity ball.

“We thought it would be a lovely way to raise awareness and hopefully a little bit of money.

“ The charity has only been running for a number of months and has already helped many families. We want to help many more.

“It’s a black tie, sit down three-course meal with Pegasus disco and Koast band for entertainment.”

As well as music, there will be a raffle, silent auction and a photographer capturing memories of the night.

The Lexi May Trust has funded exciting and memorable days out for children in Dorset including trips to Farmer Palmers and Legoland.

Claire added: “Please can I take this opportunity to thank all the people who have supported us so far with sponsorship.

“If you would like to support us in the way of a donation of raffle prizes or donations, it would be greatly appreciated.

“Please help us to create special memories.”

The ball will take place at Weymouth Pavilion on Friday, November 24.

Doors open at 7pm and the meal will start at 7.45pm.  Tickets are £38 and can be purchased from the Pavilion. Call 01305 783225.
