A MAGICAL evening raised more than £1,000 for a vital Dorset charity.

The event - Big Hoorays - was organised by The Video of All Video (TVOAV) Events, held at Sunninghill Prep School and was raising funds for Julia’s House.

Astounding performances were given from multi-talented magician, mind-reader and hypnotist Chris Piercy and supporting act Wyn Jones.

Members in the audience were encouraged to take part in tricks that left the rest of the room frequently baffled and amazed.

A raffle and silent auction took place after the event which saw prizes such as Eurostar tickets, a Dorset Cereals hamper, a spa day for two and more fantastic items found their way into the hands of lucky winners.

More than 1,250 raffle tickets were sold throughout the evening.

The final fundraising figures across ticket sales, raffle tickets, silent auction winning bids and refreshments was £1,010.

Adam Dicker, who organised the show, said “I am immensely proud to have raised more than £1,000 in one evening for the charity, I cannot thank all of the volunteers and performers enough.”

“We are all grateful for everyone who bought tickets and took the time to come along for this one-off show.”

Blueberry Mortgages of Poundbury, who kindly sponsored the event, saw one of their directors pulled up on stage during Wyn Jones’ performance to take part in a side-splitting segment of the show.

Fundraising manager at Julia’s House, Laura Kelly, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone involved in putting on the show. It was a great night and we are thrilled by how much was raised.”
