LITTLE terns at Chesil Beach on Portland will feature on television tonight.
The work to support the colony is investigated by chef and campaigner Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall who is leaving the kitchen behind and heading to the coast and countryside for a new television programme.
The food writer, of River Cottage fame, is presenting a new television series about wildlife in the south west.
In Hugh's Wild West, which started last week, he "pursues his fascination with the wildlife of the west country" as he teams up with nature lovers.
The programme has bee produced in partnership with The Open University.
Dorset features in tonight's (Saturday) episode when Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall tries to understand the "otherworldly behaviour" of cuttlefish and meets volunteers keeping a 24-hour watch over a colony of little terns on Chesil Beach.
To accompany the series, The Open University has produced a free booklet and bookmark with ideas for how to create your own garden wildlife habitat.

Hugh's Wild West is tonight at 6pm on BBC Two.
