People in Weymouth are being helped to to stick to their resolutions and get their New Year off to an active start - thanks to the investment of a local leisure provider.

The fitness suite at Everyone Active’s Weymouth Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre in Knightsdale Road has had a New Year makeover, undergoing a £400,000 upgrade.

Not only has the facility has been significantly extended, but a wealth of new training equipment has been installed in time to support many people’s New Year’s fitness resolutions.

Cllr Kevin Brookes, mayor of Weymouth and Portland and Mayoress Anne Brookes visited the centre on Friday, January 5 to officially reopen the improved facility and give the new equipment a try.

The swimming pool and gym are managed by specialist operator Sports and Leisure Management Ltd (SLM) in partnership with Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.

Cllr Brookes added: “I would very much like to thank the team at Weymouth Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre for the opportunity to reopen the extended fitness suite.

“The range and quality of equipment l saw was very impressive and will certainly raise the standards of customers’ experiences when they use the facility. I wish the centre continued success for the future.”

New flooring and television screens have also been installed in the gym, and outside of the centre, the car park has been extended to include 36 additional spaces, making the site more accessible for customers.

Rob Slocombe, Everyone Active’s South Coast contracts manager, said: “I am delighted with the improved facility. We’ve already received great feedback from customers, and it’s fantastic to see them benefitting from the investment.

“From being able to park more easily to having better access to state-of-the-art gym equipment, I hope these improvements help even more people in Weymouth to get active.”
