I have recently had major surgery at Dorset County Hospital and would like (via your newspaper) to let the community know how well I was looked after by the caring staff on Lulworth ward. Everyone’s a gem.

They certainly earn their wages. But how many of us stop to think of the journey that has got us there? (or even to thank them along the way?) Our journey usually starts off with a visit to the Dr (followed by a blood test) who in turn sends us to a specialist consultant who says OP, scan etc.

We then proceed to pre-med staff and theatre staff, anaesthetist (who has your life in their hands) surgeon (who again has your life in their hands) recovery staff, maybe HDU.

All this and more before you get to be looked after magnificently for the remainder of your stay. I think they all earn a massive thank you.
