At around five minutes to three during the afternoon of Thursday, February 22, a white Dorset County Council ‘Highways Maintenance’ van drew into the Portland car park adjacent to the Freemason’s building, parked, and then three men stepped out and walked over the top of Chesil Beach.
Around 20 minutes later they returned, climbed back into the vehicle and then, it would appear, started consuming food.
Over the next 15 minutes they threw no less than seven items of rubbish out of the vehicle’s windows and on to the car park – mainly paper but one item was a white cardboard food container.
We have difficulty training children not to deposit rubbish, but what an example these grown men set, and they should be ashamed of themselves.
