Coastguards were called to assist with a broken-down vessel in West Bay at the weekend.
The West Bay coastguard team were alerted on Sunday by Solent Coastguard NMOC (National Maritime Operations Centre) to reports of a small broken-down vessel that was being towed into West Bay Harbour by the Lyme Regis RNLI Lifeboat after suffering an engine failure.
Four rescue officers from West Bay including the team's station officer responded to the station, picked up their equipment and rescue vehicle then headed for the harbour.
On arrival, the station officer arranged a temporary stop on harbour dredging operations so the vessel could be brought in safely.
Once it was established that all of the occupants were okay, details were taken, safety advice was given and the team was then stood down to return to station.
As we head into the Easter holidays, the Coastguard recommend gaining the proper training and skills required for being at sea as this will drastically reduce the likelihood of a maritime incident.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: "Having your vessel serviced and in a good state of repair will also help avoid any potential mechanical issues.
"When heading out to sea, lifejackets, kill cord, flares, oars and a marine VHF radio or other suitable communication method are advised as the bare minimum that should be carried.
"Stay Safe on the Coast this Easter, but if you find yourself in difficulty, or if you are concerned for others, do not hesitate, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
