Weymouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was called to assist police with a despondent woman - reported to be at the top of the cliffs near Lulworth Cove.
The lifeboat was launched at 3pm today (Monday, April 16) at the request of Solent Coastguard.
They were tasked to go to Stair Hole near to Lulworth Cove where a despondent woman was reported to be at the top of the cliffs.
The plan was to use the lifeboat to give cover close into shore while the Coastguard cliff rescue teams from Lulworth and Kimmeridge and the police on shore dealt with the incident.
However, by the time the lifeboat was on scene at 3.20pm the incident was resolved and they were no longer required.
The lifeboat returned to station at 3.45pm and was made ready for the next shout before the volunteer crew were able to stand down.
