Last Autumn South Western Railways consulted on reducing the Weymouth and Wareham trains to London from twice an hour to once an hour during the day from 2019.

This would have had a big impact on business and leisure travellers from Purbeck and would have deterred visitors to our area.

Individuals, parish and town councils, Purbeck District Council, the MP and political parties objected putting forward good arguments.

South Western Railways have responded positively and we will retain our twice hourly direct service to London with the fastest train 7-10 minutes faster than now. A big thanks to SWR for listening and responding.

It shows what can be achieved if we do respond to consultations and work together.

Now we have to win the Studland ferry toll increase battle and keep Poole Hospital A&E open.
