It's now only a matter of days until hundreds of runners hit the streets of Dorchester.

The Dorchester Marathon and Casterbridge Half Marathon is organised by members of Casterbridge Rotary Club and White Star Running, a company that specialises in organising races and is expected to raise thousands for charities and organisations in the area.

Members of the team at Humphries Kirk’s Dorchester and Crewkerne offices will be just some of the runners taking part at the weekend.

The two routes will take runners through the Dorset countryside, including through the county town of Dorchester and its surrounding villages.

Claire Colborne, Lisa McKenzie, Lisa Morris and Chris Keenan will be taking on the 13 mile Casterbridge Half Marathon. The route begins in the Dorchester and leads out to Kingston Maurward and Puddletown, before heading to the finish line at Cokers Frome Farm.

Howard Yarnold, partner at Humphries Kirk, said: “It’s great to be involved with the Dorchester Marathon, as sponsors and with a team taking part. They have all been training really hard over the past few months to get ready to take on the challenge, and have raised a good amount for their respective charities so far. We’re all so proud and I look forward to greeting them at the finish line.”

The team will be raising funds for a number of charities, including Prostate Cancer UK, Cancer Research UK, Mind, Shelter and Parkinson’s UK.

The Dorchester Marathon and Casterbridge Half Marathon take place on Sunday, May 27.

A number of road closures and parking restrictions will be in place on the running route. Visit dorchestermarathon.co.uk for more information.
