I read with dismay of the authoritarian stance being taken by the council in refusing to consider the re-instatement of the classic fairy lights along the promenade.
After wasting £2.5million on the fiasco of the ugly laser lights our councillors really should listen to the wishes of local people who sensibly want to see a restoration of something in common with their Georgian promenade, the shelters, Victorian railings and classical architecture.
Disco lights? Ye Gods! Will there be garage music to accompany them?
And has the council considered that many people are medically susceptible to flashing lights which can trigger seizures? Let’s just hope they are well insured against future claims.
