I would just like to record publicly thanks to Kathryn Bland -a local volunteer - who has been able to clear the RSPB lake of much rubbish. Kathryn’s fantastic contribution to helping the local environment in Weymouth was assisted by Sara Edge of 109 Watersports who responded immediately to a request to lend a kayak for the purpose.
It is difficult to see how the irresponsible and antisocial behaviour of those responsible for throwing a huge amount of rubbish into the lake can be tackled but it is heartening to see this example of local business and volunteers come together to make Weymouth a more attractive place to live.
There have been many more examples of community spirit which has all been brought together through the medium of WeyProgress and I would urge everyone to follow them on Facebook and if possible get involved and contribute to the greater good of the community.
