DIABETES TALK

The West Dorset Diabetes UK group will be hosting a talk at the Dorford Centre.

The talk will be about caring for your feet and will run from 7pm until 9pm on Thursday, August 9.

Dr Adeel Ghaffar will talk.

PRIZE BINGO

Dorchester Town Football Club will be holding a prize bingo evening at the Avenue Stadium on Friday, August 10.

Doors will open at 6.30pm, for eyes down at 7.30pm.

There will be lots of prizes, including a cash jackpot.

Age UK Dorchester's scrabble club will meet at Rowan Cottage from 2pm until 4pm on Friday, August 10.

POPULAR MARKET

Dorchester's community market is held every Friday at the Corn Exchange.

It sells homemade baked goods, breads, cakes, savoury bales, eggs, flowers, plants, vegetables and a lot more.

It is open from 8.30am until 11.15am.

COMMUNITY LUNCH

A community lunch will be held at St Mary's Church on Edward Road from 12pm until 2pm on Sunday, August 12.

There will be refreshments and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

RHYME TIME

A children's Rhyme Time event will be held in the borough gardens from 10.30am until 11am on Tuesday, August 14.

Families are invited to bring a blanket and enjoy the event in the sunshine.

Under eights must be accompanied by an adult.

VEGAN MARKET

Dorchester's Summer Vegan Market will be returning to the Corn Exchange from 930am until 2pm on Saturday, August 18.

Entry is free and everyone is welcome to pop along and browse the host of stalls that will be available.

MUSIC IN THE GARDENS

Tony Lowe will be returning to Dorchester for the third of four summer concerts in Dorset.

Everyone is invited to pop along and relax to the songs of Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Tom Jones and many more.

He will be performing at Dorchester Borough Gardens from 2.30pm until 5pm on Sunday, August 19.

The event will be supporting Weldmar Hospicecare.

BARN DANCE

A barn dance has been organised to support the Friends of Dorset County Hospital and the work they do.

The dance will also see the return of Ceilidh band Black Sheep.

It will be held at the Corn Exchange from 7.30pm on Friday, August 25.

Tickets will also include a ploughman's supper.

FASHION SHOW

A vintage fashion show will be coming to Dorchester in August to help raise funds for a vital trust.

The show will be held at Duke’s Auctioneers in Brewery Square.

There will a host of vintage accessories and clothes on show.

There will be cream teas provided by Yalbury and Yvons Café from 4pm and 5.30pm with free entry.

The ticketed fashion show will start at 6pm with a reception and canapes, followed by the show at 7.30pm.

The event will be held on Thursday, August 30 be raising funds for The Alcohol Education Trust.

The Dorchester and District Fundraising Group for Marie Curie is always on the lookout for volunteers and supporters for the charity.

DEMENTIA SUPPORT

The next Dementia Support Group meeting will be held on Monday, September 10 at Rowan Cottage.

The group was launched by Age UK Dorchester and is open to anyone who has been affected by dementia, whether they themselves have it, or if they support someone else who does.

The group will be from 10.30am until 12pm.

It is also an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation and a chance to talk about issues that may be affecting you or those around you.

The group will be very informal and led by those who attend.

Tea and coffee will also be available.

PICNIC IN PARK

families are invited to enjoy a picnic in the Borough Gardens on Saturday, September 8 from 10am until 3pm.

The event has been organised by Stepping into Nature and is being supported by Dorchester Town Council, Natural Choices and LiveWell Dorset.

There will be music all day as well as 'give it a go' nature-based activities.

BENEFIT ADVICE

Regular benefit advice sessions are held at Age UK Dorchester.

Sessions operate on the fourth Thursday in each month, between 9am and 12.30pm.
