Weymouth RNLI all-weather lifeboat was launched to rescue a motor cruiser which lost power.
The incident happened yesterday, and the lifeboat was launched at 1.30pm.
A spokesman for Weymouth lifeboat said the 9.4 metre motor cruiser had sent out a Pan-Pan distress call to Solent Coastguard following an overheated engine. It then suffered a total loss of power.
The lifeboat arrived at the scene, which was five miles south west of St Albans Head, at 1.50pm.
The spokesman added: “After checking that the four persons on board were all well, a line was passed, and the vessel was towed back to Weymouth Harbour arriving at 3.30pm where they were berthed opposite the lifeboat and were met by Wyke Coastguard who took details and offered safety advice.”
The lifeboat then returned to its station, where it was refuelled.
