A popular attraction at Weymouth's Lodmoor Country Park once proved that small is beautiful.

Modelworld attracted hundreds of visitors every summer.

The models included a quarry with working parts and an area representing Dorset, which featured a replica of Weymouth Esplanade during the 1930s.

There was also a model-sized railway and a model of Stonehenge, which was stolen but later reunited with Roy Ratcliffe.

The attraction even had it own mini football stadium for Weymouth FC to play in, complete with a Dorset Evening Echo banner.

Another popular part of Lodmoor Country Park which is still there today is the Rio Grande model railway which circles the events area at Lodmoor and is open to visitors throughout the summer season.

Notably, the miniature railway featured in the Dorset Evening Echo in 1991 when a travellers' camp was set up nearby.

And of course, a nostalgic piece on Lodmoor wouldn't be complete without a picture of the extremely fun big Cresta run slide.

Another thrill was always the go-kart track, photographed here in 1991.

Lodmoor Bird Reserve has always lent itself to brooding photos over the years and this photo of the reserve taken in 1998 shows the reserve in all its wild glory.

Back in 1994 the reserve was once again featured in the Dorset Evening Echo when a lone mower was photographed working on the reserve.

It was all part of a bid to bring cows to graze on the grassland at the Overcombe end of the reserve.
