Weymouth Carnival procession is underway with marching bands, tanks, vibrant walking entries and an assortment of colourful floats.

The parade is the big highlight of the proceedings and follows a day of fun on the beach and the seafront.

There were no Red Arrows this year but there were a number of other aerial displays to wow the crowds including Vortex Aerobatics, Otto the Helicopter and AeroSuperbatics Wing Walkers.

Healthcare assistant Mark Phillips decided to enter a float just seven weeks before the big day.

Meanwhile, founder of Wessex Majorettes, Lucky Gollop said the group attend carnivals up and down the country but Weymouth is always one they look forward to.

The fireworks in Weymouth Bay are at 9.30pm tonight followed by the grand draw at 10pm.
