Get glammed up and ready to twist and shout at a 1940's inspired charity fundraiser.

Guests will be donning their best tea dresses and brogues for the ‘Spirit of the 40s’ - an 'magical' evening to raise funds and awareness for Weymouth charity, The Lantern Trust.

Mike Graham, chief executive of the Lantern trust said the charity had recently extended their building and services and the event was an opportunity to showcase the future and bring the whole community together.

"We help more than 400 new referrals each year. Unless you are in real crisis you are not going to know about us," Mr Graham said.

He added the new expanded Lantern Trust hoped to serve as a 'one-stop shop' where someone in need can access any service they may need.

Hosted in conjunction with Sparkle Event Planning, the event will see an array of forties-style entertainment come to Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

The fundraiser will include live music from the sensational Bristol-based vintage harmony trio, ‘The Polka Dot Peaches’ to get guests jiving and jitterbugging to their jazz, swing and rock ‘n’ roll.

There will also be a special guest performance from Lantern Trust ambassador and star of The Voice, Lauren Bannon.

Shelley Robertson of Sparkle Event Planning said: "It is looking to be a fantastic event, and will be a great opportunity to get dressed up in 1940's style and enjoy a really fun night whilst raising money for such a fantastic charity.

"The charity is a much valued resource in the local area, so this is a great way to support the work of The Lantern Trust.

"The event has received a lot of support from local businesses who have sponsored elements of the event, including Weyline Taxis and The Nook Cocktail Bar but there are still more sponsorship packages available."

The event is being held on Saturday, September 15 and tickets are now on sale costing £15 per person or £25 with a voucher for the 'Big Blitz BBQ.'

Tickets can be purchased direct from The Lantern Trust on Ranelagh Road, or by emailing Sparkle Event Planning at sparkleeventplanning@outlook.com.

Sparkle Event Planning can also be contacted for those wishing to sponsor the event.
