I was very concerned to read the article on Wednesday, August 15, where yet again the issue about the seafront lighting are highlighted.

After reading the article which did not mention that the lights can flash, which can be harmful to some disabled people.

They also mention that they could later put up what residents have informed what they would like see back – the fairy lights.

I heard that the council stated that the street light poles are unable to take the weight of the cable and bulbs.

So why are they stating something that is not possible as the council have stated due to the fact the street poles are made of a lighter material, ie aluminium?

I am now convinced that no matter what the residents do not want in the town, the decision is made by the council, which they have shown yet again.

They do, however, support a person or business who wishes to spend their money in the town whether it is good or even that the residents do not want it for the town; for example, the laser lights and also the stones on poles by the relief road.

The council is also looking into who will maintain the lights.

I am sure the council will not be doing this themselves.

They do not have the staff, which can be seen around Weymouth where there are many areas which have not been maintained and have become unsafe or unsightly.

Finally how many residents are aware that your council tax will could be going up to support the new town council? I do hope that we will get new councillors who will look after our town and not let the great character and history of Weymouth be lost and become like other seaside towns which are nothing special.
