A Dorset campsite has the best view in the South West - according to the public.

Crafty Camping, near Holditch in West Dorset has won the regional leg of the‘Window with a View’ competition.

Now in its third year, the competition - launched by MyGlazing.com - saw hundreds of competitors go head-to-head submitting images of stunning architecture and landscapes, all seen from a window.

A judging panel of experts from the architecture, photography, property and interior industries selected the three best images for each area of the UK, taking the window, view and overall photograph into consideration for the scoring process.

The West Dorset site went up against South Sands Hotel in Devon and Summer Lakes in the Cotswolds to represent the south west region.

Thousands of people voted for their favourite photograph crowning Crafty Camping as the winner.

The campsite is the brainchild of Guy Mallinson and has appeared on BBC 2’s show ‘Mastercrafts’.

The woodland site has been described as ‘like Avatar in summer and Narnia in winter.’

James Lee, marketing director at MyGlazing.com said: “We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Crafty Camping, it truly is a great feat given the standard of entries we received this year.

“It’s going to be an exciting couple of months, seeing which regional winner secures the title of the UK’s Best Window with a View. We wish Crafty Camping the best of luck in the national vote and urge people in the south west to support them.”

Crafty Camping will now go up against finalists from nine other regions across the country in a public vote to fight it out for the title of the UK’s Best Window with a View.

Voting is open until September 30 and the winner will be announced in October.
