ROLL up Roll up - as the circus has officially arrived back in town.

Now pitched up in Lodmoor Country Park, Circus Vegas will be bringing the public some of the world's best acts until Monday, August 27.

General manager, David Fitzgerald said this year's show promised to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

"It's glitz, it's glamour, it's modern and exciting. We have packed out shows throughout the UK - there's something for everyone whether aged two or 82," he said.

This year's theme is 'Vegas on wheels' and every act in the show has done a stint performing in the entertainment capital of the world - Las Vegas.

"Vegas is known for its big, bold shows so we wanted to bring that kind of big American show to the UK. The circus is all about exciting people now so once we had the idea we started looking to see what acts were out there," Mr Fitzgerald said.

The show has an international cast of 30 and highlights include the 'Globe of Death' - which sees ringmaster perform inside a spherical cage whilst two motorbikes race at 50 mph around him - and the Danguir Troupe, a Moroccan trio with more than a decades experience on the high-wire.

Elaine Courtney, who performs the quick change act said: "They will be performing the wheel of death with not safety net and no lunges. They will be risking their lives every single performance - It's something people don't get to see. We've had great reaction from audiences."

At the end of the show, audiences will have the opportunity to 'meet and greet' with the performers - Edy the Clown, a legendary figure in the circus industry.

"Everyone loves him," Miss Courtney said. "He's great with the kids and puts them at ease. Even the ones who don't like clowns tell us how much they love him at the end of the show."

But hurry as the troop moves location every week and will only be at Lodmoor Country Park until Monday.

Shows will take place at 7.45pm on Thursday, 3pm and 7.45pm Friday, 3pm and 6pm Saturday and 2pm and 5pm on Sunday and Monday.

The show last approximately two hours and adult tickets start from £12 and kids start from £8.
