Having lived on Portland for nearly 50 years, I feel I can comment on the need for the Highway plan, i.e. The Jurassic Coast Highway.

I would like to know the names of the councillors that voted against the highway!

Do they live in the area affected?

Wyke Regis has become a dangerous area for children, cycling and crossing roads, as is Lanehouse Rocks Road.

The port is expanding, heavy lorries and cruise ships, increase the traffic leaving Portland. Portland Port is thriving from the hard work of local business men.

But a third road is needed to provide more expansion and much needed employment to local people. From the many years that I have lived in Dorset, I have seen many negative decisions made by local councillors, against the wishes of local people.

They should not be allowed to exclude the highway, and action should be put into pace to protect the proposed route of the highway.

I understand Ferrybridge pub is being considered for a development of flats.
