THE deputy manager of the Rendezvous and Royal Oak in Weymouth is celebrating after being offered a general manager position.

Jenna Wells from Weymouth has graduated from her training course run by the pub’s managing operator, the Stonegate Pub Company, and is set to leave her current role on Monday, September 17 for a general manager position.

She recently graduated from the Stonegate's Accelerator Programme which is designed to fast track selected employees to managerial positions.

The programme included a practical component, organising and producing a fundraiser for a chosen charity, for which Jenna picked Merchant Navy Association.

The Accelerator Programme helps to give employees the tools to bridge the gap between deputy manager and general manager, through education and dynamic group learning. The course aims to build the participant's confidence, encourage continued independent learning and help them to work together effectively as team.

She said: “The Accelerator Course has, hands down, been one of the most impactful things I have done in my life,” said Jenna. “It has really helped me channel my drive and determination into excelling in my career, as well as helped me become more supportive of my team and my manager at the pub.

“I wanted to support the Merchant Navy Association because many of our regulars are members and I’ve learnt a lot about the amazing work they do. Speaking with them also highlighted to me how much the charity is in need of funds.”

As deputy manager at the Rendezvous and Royal Oak, she has helped manager, Keith Treggiden, steer both venues to win an amazing four Gold Best Bar None Awards. The National Home Office backed Accreditation Scheme recognises the responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises, as well as the positive relationships they build with the community, police and local authorities.

HR Director, Tim Painter, said, “A massive congratulations to Jenna and everyone who graduated from the Accelerator Programme last week! We are immensely proud of our graduates, whose drive and commitment over the last four months has really shown them to be exceptional employees. We look forward to seeing them thrive in our business and wish them every success in the future.”

The Accelerator Programme in now in its 20th graduation cycle and has seen nearly 200 deputy managers progress to managerial positions, while raising over £300,000 for UK Charities between them.
