A GLOBAL company has moved into new offices on the Granby Industrial Estate in Weymouth.

SOCOTEC, a well-established global supplier of testing, inspection and compliance services in the UK has moved into new offices at Oxford Court.

The company delivers six million tests a year to more than 5,000 customers offering the widest range of testing, inspection and compliance services in the UK.

Tom Green, technical manager, Infrastructure and Energy, SOCOTEC said: “Our recent relocation from East Stoke to Weymouth is a continued commitment to the South West area, so SOCOTEC can continue to provide construction materials testing services in the area, as well as nationwide.

He added that local employment opportunities will be available in the future and said: “The property available to us at Granby Industrial Estate will allow us to optimise our workflow as well as improve our efficiencies and our turnaround times. Local employment opportunities will be available in the future, with our new facility as a strong base for growth.”

The facility in Weymouth primarily serves the construction industry and associated sectors with chemical analysis on a range of materials including soils, aggregates, concrete and mortar.

Mickey Jones, Chief Executive of DJ Property which initiated the move, said: “I was delighted when SOCOTEC approached me for commercial business space in south Dorset. The commercial unit at Oxford Court is ideal for the business providing over 3,000 square feet of flexible space which fits their current needs and those in the immediate future. By attracting businesses of this calibre to South Dorset it really enhances the commercial business mix that we have on Granby Industrial Estate and Link Park. This is a real vote of confidence for the south Dorset economy and for Weymouth. Granby Industrial Estate and Link Park are now attracting global companies with professional highly trained staff who set up adjacent to well established local companies and encourage organic business growth in the area.”

SOCOTEC employs more than 1400 full time members of staff in the UK and is looking to expand over the next few years. It operates more than 30 sites and laboratories in the UK and Ireland.

The company prides itself on a client-focused approach and continual drive to exceed expectations through leading technical expertise, operational excellence and technological innovation.

Almost 100 per cent of DJ Property’s units on the Granby Industrial Estate, Lynch Lane Industrial Estate and Link Park are currently occupied, but DJ Property has an ongoing development pipeline to keep up with future demand.
