Alzheimer’s Society’s Dorchester Memory Café and Singing for the Brain group are changing venues this month. They used to occupy the community church but as that building is being demolished in the next few months, they have moved location to Acland Court Community Room on Linden Avenue.
The charity’s Dorchester Memory Café and Singing for the Brain group provide an opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to meet in a relaxed social setting.
Melanie Gale, Alzheimer’s Society Peer Support Group Facilitator said: “The new venue has comfy chairs and accessible toilets, and we will still be providing our usual tea and biscuits.
“We’d love to use this move as an opportunity to invite new people along to our groups and invite even more people affected by dementia to join us.
“Too many people are facing dementia alone without adequate support - we want to reach everyone affected by dementia to make sure they are connected to the support and information they need.
“Alzheimer’s Society is here for everyone affected by dementia no matter where you are or what you’re going through, you can turn to the Society for support, help and advice.”
The groups take place weekly on Thursday mornings. For more information about the Dorchester Memory Café or Singing for the Brain group, or other local Alzheimer’s Society services, please call 0300 123 1916 or visit alzheimers.org.uk.
