CONTINUING our nostalgic look at TV shows filmed in this area, let's recall some 'precious' memories!

Popular BBC show The Antiques Roadshow came to Weymouth to film an episode in September 1995.

Some familiar faces were spotted at Redlands Sports Centre in Weymouth where the show was filmed, including the show's then-presenter the late Hugh Scully, expert Eric Knowles, expert Hilary Kay and local resident and antiques expert Paul Atterbury.

Some residents who raided their attics in the hope that they could find valuable items left with a big smile on their face.

Connie Webster's vase, which she bought for a bargain £5, turned out to be worth between £2,000 and £3,000.

Weymouth sailor Mark Kemmis-Betty was featured on the programme with a Poole Pottery piece that his father won in a sailing contest in 1949.

Pottery aficionado Paul Atterbury said it was one of the best pieces he had seen.

It transpired that the plate depicted the medieval pirate ship of the infamous Harry Payne, after whom Old Harry Rocks are named.

Mary Johnson of Chickerell went away slightly more disappointed when she was told her painting - a family heirloom - was virtually worthless.

The day's filming attracted around 3,000 people who turned up for valuations.

We also bring you some images from two very different television commercials filmed at Weymouth beach.

In June 2003 a camera friendly family arrived on the golden sands and sat in a sand sculpture car to film a Vauxhall car commercial.

And back in June 1983 a quirky mustachioed character wearing a vest and braces caused quite a stir on Weymouth beach.

He was in town for the filming of a Guinness advert.
