Tomorrow, Wednesday September 19 at the Dorford Centre, Dorchester at 7pm there promises to be an exciting debate on the effects of Brexit on the NHS.

Now we know that there are currently a massive 107,743 vacancies in the NHS, with recruitment extremely difficult in these uncertain times, there needs to be serious thought about how to address the shortfall.

Undoubtedly, the populist Leave vote push to restrict overseas workers from working in Britain has been a disaster for employing nurses and doctors from Eastern Europe, with more and more returning ‘home’ because of the uncertainties of Brexit.

West Dorset For Europe is a genuinely cross party campaign to remain in the EU and ensure a Peoples’ Vote on the final deal.

Exeter Labour MP Ben Bradshaw is one of the main speakers next Wednesday, along with a contribution from the Royal College of Nursing.

The Labour leadership’s present position on Europe is inexplicable.

Whenever Sir Keir Starmer or Barry Gardiner hold forth in attempts to justify it, their mealy mouthed comments are sadly feeble.

The hope must be that at Labour Party Conference in Liverpool Labour’s unconvincing position will be reversed. History would draw shameful conclusions if Labour were to endorse a Tory Brexit.

So tomorrow’s meeting is a must for Labour activists concerned about Europe, Tory doubters who want Brexit reversed , Lib Dem ‘convinced Europeans’ , Green Party ‘illuminated’ members and the general public who are worried where Britain is headed.

There are also the 16-25 generation likely to be most affected, medical professionals working under duress because of staff shortages and previous Leave voters now desperate to reverse the whole silly process.

The meeting is of course ‘free’. Please show up and participate.
