Portland residents have been left wondering where 'some other stuff' is, after an amusing road sign mysteriously disappeared.

The sign was attached to the roundabout in Victoria Square, Portland, as part of the b-side arts festival, and is the work of an anonymous local artist, KGB.

The festival finished last weekend, but Portlanders have said that the sign should stay.

Resident Lea Biddis called the sign "a stroke of genius". She said: "It let people know that they're coming to an island where people have a sense of humour.

"Everybody was talking about it - it makes you chuckle. People are really upset it's been removed."

But Dorset County Council says that residents will have to pay if they want the sign back up.

A spokesperson said: “Businesses and tourist attractions have to pay the county council to erect brown signs.

In this instance the sign was put up solely for the purposes of the B-Side Festival and was removed by organisers.

"If Portland residents would like the sign to stay, they will need to apply through the Town Council who will liaise with the Community Highways Officer to reinstate it.”
