A pollution exercise is being carried out on Weymouth Beach today.
Authorities are on the sands near the Pavilion working on an oil spill scenario.
A boom has been deployed in the sea as part of the operation.
Weymouth Harbour team is working with the company Oil Spill Response Ltd (OSRL) in the operation.
The boom has been inflated to show how the teams would deal with oil residue stuck on the beach.
OSRL will be taking part in another exercise tomorrow, this time a mock oil spill from a vessel in the harbour.
Michael Scott, from OSRL, said: "As a company we respond to oil spill incidents globally.
"But, being based in the UK, we like to maintain and build relationships with local authorities.
"We contacted the harbour authority to see if they would be interested in doing an oil pollution exercise.
"We've been doing these for a number of years now.
"This sort of preparation puts us in good stead should there ever be a real incident."
Setup is complete! Any oil residue that would be stuck on the beach @oilspillexperts would use a high volume low pressure hose to flush the oil back in the boomed off area to collect @WeymouthHarbour #Weymouthbeach #Dorset pic.twitter.com/A210QxyKuw
