LONDON Mayor Sadiq Khan has called for a Peoples’ Vote on the final Brexit deal. He has never been more right in his entire political career. It is not ‘Project Fear’ to inform voters of the likely consequences of leaving the European Union with a ‘bad’ or even worse no deal at all.

I personally have no trust in the mainstream politicians to deliver anything ‘meaningful’. On the one hand Mrs. May is struggling to keep her party together when patently obviously it’s coming apart in factions that have nothing in common. On the other Labour continue to persist with a indeterminate position fed by Barry Gardiner’s feeble excuses, that ultimately will effectively be helping the Tories to self destruct Britain. The Labour Party have this one opportunity to get it right on Brexit at their Liverpool Summer Conference soon. Failure to change direction on Europe will be stupidly obstinate and not easily forgiven by the mass of its membership who want to stay in the EU.

Possibly one of the worst case scenarios for Britain after a hard Brexit or no deal is the undermining of our food security. The UK only produces 49 % of its food, whilst 30 % comes from the European mainland. Who is going to grow, pick and process our food after Brexit ? With current immigration policies farmers will struggle to harvest their crops. As for American chlorinated chicken, who wants it in their pot ?

As citizens we have a very short time to stop the politicians destroying our future prosperity. Whatever it takes we must give the British people an opportunity to think again, not least because so many young people didn’t have the chance in 2016.
