Managers at a Dorchester care home are celebrating as they scoop a prestigious people award.

Culliford House Residential Home has been awarded Gold accreditation against Investors in People standard, demonstrating their commitment to high performance through good people management.

The home, which employs 33 staff, has been recognised as an 'investor in people' since 2003 and was awarded Bronze accreditation in 2012 and Silver in 2014.

This year Culliford House has achieved Gold which managers said supported their business objectives and further developed good practices currently in place.

Proprietor Rita Moors opened Culliford House in 1984 and has been a registered provider for more than 30 years.

Her daughter, Suzanne Jackson, is now the registered manager and has been at Culliford House for 30 years.

Mrs Jackson said: “We are committed to functioning as a learning organisation, providing all its employees with the opportunity for training and re-training in accordance with their own needs and the needs of the service.

“We pride ourselves in staff retention, training, personal development and flexibility. Staff feel the approach by management makes them feel valued and appreciated and say it’s like working for an extended family and enjoy their work."
