Staff at Dorset councils will be invited to a series of roadshow meetings to explain the latest about local government reorganisation.

The roadshow events will start towards the end of October with local meetings in Dorchester, Wareham and Sturminster Newton.

They will be presented by the Shaping Dorset Council team which will bring staff at county, district and borough councils up to date with the programme and its progress as the councils prepare to merge and form one new unitary authority in April next year.

Staff are being told that there will be opportunities to give feedback and ask questions. Some of the briefings will be live streamed for staff who cannot attend.

The majority of staff will be transferred to the new Dorset Council when it comes into being with the exception of a small number who will work for the yet to be formed new Weymouth Town Council.

Work on that council is continuing with it expected to have 29 councillors, representing 12 wards.
