WEYMOUTH golf star Jacob Tidswell is enjoying a purple patch of form.

In the past few months, the Budmouth College student, a member of Weymouth Golf Club, has won the Dorset U14 Schools Championship, qualified for and won the South West School’s Competition and played in both U18 England Schools National Finals and the England Schools U16 Finals, coming second.

With this amazing form Tidswell has qualified for the England Schools’ squad to compete against Wales.

The match was played at Llanwern Golf Club in Wales. The course was in very good condition considering the lack of rain.

Tidswell and his playing partner lost their match on the last hole in the morning, but Tidswell played very well in the afternoon to halve his singles match against the U18 Wales champion, with England winning 13-5.

Tidswell thought it was a great achievement being a much younger player but he looks upon it as a stepping stone in his golf career. He practices every day after school to achieve his goals of turning professional in the future. His ambition is to win all 4 majors and play in the Ryder cup.

With this commitment and support from all around him, he is definitely one to watch.
