A MASSIVE crowd of more than 1,000 were present at the Clayson Stadium in Dorchester to see Arsenal Women beat Yeovil Town Ladies 7-0, with Jordan Nobbs scoring twice in the Women’s Super League.

Beth Mead, Katie McCabe, Vivianne Miedema, Dominique Bloodworth and Kim Little also netted.

After just five minutes Little found Nobbs, whose shot nestled into the bottom left-hand corner via a deflection.

After 16 minutes, Yeovil nearly scored when Olivia Fergusson’s excellent shot from just outside box sailed wide of the post.

Just four minutes later, Mead extended the visitors’ lead when her shot somehow found its way over the line from a corner.

After the break, Yeovil created chances through Fergusson and Horwood but couldn’t find that killer finish and after 52 minutes a fantastic flick from Nobbs fed substitute McCabe who made no mistake one-on-one as she fired past Megan Walsh.

Two minutes later Miedema made it four despite the best efforts of Walsh.

On 76 minutes it was 5-0 through Nobbs before Bloodworth scored a sixth with 11 minutes remaining and Little volleyed home a seventh.

On 82 minutes, Fergusson nearly scored a fabulous acrobatic kick but it sailed just wide of the post. Arsenal Women secured an excellent win and took all their chances to ensure the three points.

Yeovil were not too disheartened and Burch told the FA after the game that the Glovers need to be as ruthless as their opponents.

He said: “Unfortunately we played an Arsenal team on fire. We limited their shots but they’ve been absolutely ruthless.

“When we’re chasing the ball all the time, it’s easier for them to feel fresher. Even when you win the ball back, it’s very hard to keep it and create something.

“Once we hit that 70-minute mark, we looked like we were struggling to get that yard and they were sharper.

“We created some of our best chances towards the end though so it’s certainly not a fitness thing.

“We’ve created chances in every game so far which will leave us more susceptible at the back but hopefully the crowd want to see a more attacking side, even if that means that we concede a couple more goals on the counter.

“I believe once those goals come, we’re going to be in a better place. We’ve just got to be more ruthless like Arsenal were tonight.”Yeovil: Walsh, Alexander, Cousins, Short, Fergusson, Horwood, Heatherson, Mason, Evans (Albuery 61), Fischer (Donovan 72), Goddard
