NEW ADC champion Sam Ward is uncatchable with five games still left to play in the Weymouth ADC Summer League.

Showing his county class throughout his debut season, Ward so far out of 43 matches has lost just three times and he breezed all three of his latest matches 3-0 starting off by beating winter finalist Andy Masters. Matty Paice and then Wayne Jordan would be Ward’s next victims.

Second spot is undecided as neither Andrew McDermott or Mel Burton could get enough legs on the night to put Danny Aplin out of the equation. Aplin has one game left in hand on both players and sits only two legs behind second-placed McDermott, a win against leader Ward will see Aplin take second overall.

Simon Churchill dented McDermott’s hopes as he took a brilliant 105 checkout and the match 3-2 while the latter was double 10 away from the win. A 3-0 victory plus two 180s against Nigel Davies and then a 3-1 success over Mark Long keeps McDermott second.

Burton matched McDermott’s results on the night as he lost 3-1 to Arnie Quinn including a 17-dart last leg before going on to win his next two matches 3-0 over Simon Sharpe and Chris Stone. Two 180s from Burton also sees him and McDermott share the most 180s honour as both players tied on 19 at the end of the season.

A good finish for Churchill started with a win then went on to hit a 116 checkout in a 3-1 victory over Adam McKay before the same scoreline saw off Scott Gannon in their contest.

Gannon suffered three defeats losing his other two matches to Davies 3-2 and Long 3-1.

Paul Dormer was brought back down to earth with a thump as Mark Samways put him to the sword with a very convincing 3-0 win in their opening match.

Hitting two 180s, Samways ended the night with a 3-1 win over Heidi Paice after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Chris Burton.

This was the only positive result for Burton who lost 3-2 to Paul Paice. Leading 2-0, Paice looked to have the game wrapped up but Burton fought back to take it to a decider where a scruffy last leg from both saw Paice take the win.

Terry Tucker rubbed salt into the wounds of Burton as he had a very impressive 3-0 win in the final match on board five.

Tucker won two out of three matches starting with a 3-1 win over Heidi Paice but then went down 3-1 to Dormer who hit a 105 out shot in the process.

Dormer, who can still break into the top five with the games in hand, ended with the same scoreline against Paice. Paice did defeat sister-in-law Heidi 3-0 to claim two victories on the night.

Arnie Quinn once again had a great night, starting with the win over Burton he then went on to defeat Stew Masters 3-2 and then a 180 followed by an 85 out-shot last leg in his 3-1 win over Dave Butler.

Simon Sharpe hit a great 14-dart leg in his 3-2 victory over Masters after an opening 3-1 loss to Butler, who hit a 119 out-shot in the second leg.

Masters had one win on the night as he hit a 120 out-shot against Stones and the match 3-1.

Wayne Jordan sits at the top of the highest out-shot table with his 161 on week 11 and despite a last-match loss to Ward, Jordan did pick up maximum points from his other two matches with a great 3-0 win over in-form Matty Betts and then 3-1 over Drew Tweedy.

Both players also suffered defeat to Andy Masters with Betts going down 3-2 and Tweedy 3-1. A 3-0 over Matty Paice saw Tweedy and Betts both end up with one win apiece on the night.

The league would like to thank Richard Pask who comes down every week to chalk.
