THE former curate of St Mary’s Church in Dorchester says she will remember her time in the town with ‘fond memories’ as she prepares for a new appointment.

Revd Jo Haine will be installed as the Team Vicar of Emmanuel and St Mary’s Church in Weymouth tomorrow.

Ahead of the service, Revd Haine, has thanked those who have supported her.

She said: “The past three years have been for me, a time of learning and growth. Throughout my time of training as a curate in this team many people have supported me, but God has called me to step into a new season, one in which learning will continue and mistakes will I’m sure be made. I am currently in between these two seasons, reflecting back and grateful for all that has been, whilst preparing for what will be and the challenges ahead.

“As we decorate the new vicarage and sort through boxes in the loft, I cannot help but think and reflect on the past three years and the people who have been part off this season of my life and ministry. I am grateful for the support and kindness I have received and will always remember our time in Dorchester with fond memories.”

A spokesman from St Mary’s Church in Dorchester said: “Jo has moved on from her curacy here to be team vicar of St Mary’s and Emmanuel churches in Weymouth and several of our congregation were present at her licensing. We wish her and her family well in their new home and life.

“We shall miss her preaching and many other aspects of her ministry here with us.”

Revd Jo Haine was born in Croydon and spent her early years there before moving to Poole. She studied for an advanced diploma in nursing science at Southampton University School of Nursing and Midwifery. She then worked as a registered mental health nurse in Poole for 15 years before being ordained. Jo married in 2003 and in 2013 she and her family moved to Nottingham where she studied theology at St John’s College. She was ordained deacon in 2015 and priest in 2016, both in Salisbury Cathedral.

The installation of Revd Jo Haine will take place at St Mary’s church in Weymouth tomorrow at 7pm.
