I HAVE holidayed in your county since 2005 when my wife Colette was first diagnosed with breast cancer.
Sadly Colette passed away earlier this year and I thought that I would never again visit the beautiful village of Chideock that we had come to call our second home.
With much apprehension, I returned earlier this month with my son and daughter to finally climb the Golden Cap and raise money for Children with Cancer UK in Colette’s memory – I am so glad I did.
The villagers of Chideock, who over the last 13 years we have been proud to call our friends welcomed us with open arms.
I would like to specifically thank Helen and Mike Long who run the loveliest local pub you can find (The Clockhouse Inn) and the regulars and visitors who raised an incredible £505 during my week’s stay.
Yours is a lovely county and I will never forget the warmth, support and generosity shown by the people of Chideock, and the management, staff and locals in the Clockhouse Inn, during what was a difficult time for me.
I told them I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be back – how can I not?
