Local performers are preparing to take centre stage at one of London’s most famous venues.

Rehearsals are now underway for 30 talented young people from Weymouth's Razzamataz Theatre school, as they prepare to take to the boards at the London 02.

Lauren Bill, principal of Razzamataz Weymouth said: “For many seasoned professionals, performing at the 02 will be the pinnacle of their career, so the opportunity to be able to offer this to children and teenagers is incredible.”

“For the students, their families and our staff, this will be a day that stays with them for the rest of their lives - making memories and giving our students the opportunity to reach their potential is at the core of what we believe at Razzamataz.”

Students and their teachers are busy putting final touches to their piece, '24k Magic', which will treat the audience to a medley of classic Bruno Mars hits encompassing his sense of style, showmanship and energetic performance qualities.

The show will see local students joining 15 other schools within the Razzamataz network to take part in the gala performance at the London 02's Indigo theatre.

The venue has a capacity of 2,800 and has seen many world-class musicians, comedians and performers grace its stages, and has hosted everything from the NME Awards to the legendary X Factor boot camp sessions and the British Comedy Awards.

Razzamataz Weymouth offers a curriculum of singing, dancing and acting classes, which organisers say will help give youngsters the skills to become ‘triple threat performers’.

Pupils are taught a range of genres, from street dance and commercial singing through to more traditional West End musical theatre styles with the aim of helping them become rounded performers.
